I have only been with this practice for about 6 weeks or so, and I have found there service right from reception to phlebotomy and the doctors second to none. The reception staff are friendly even under pressure. I spoke to a doctor at the end of a busy, he gave me a lot of information and was very helpful. I am very impressed with Llandaff North surgery, ever through these stressful times they are still providing a great service. Thank you.

Suggested improvements
The only improvement I would make is that when you call the surgery it would ring or have the busy tone straight away, rather than listen to the messages and then get a busy tone.

Thank you for the kind words, which are extremely encouraging during a very difficult time for the health service. We are currently appraising other telephone systems, where "you are x in the queue" is an essential feature requested by us. We note that several patients have commented how contacting the practice by telephone could be improved and we are actively working to make the suggested improvements. Regards, James Morgan (Practice Manager)

I have been trying to phone them today (6 times) without any success. At the moment I have got as far as press 2 to continue in English and then there is silence. What is going on? I have belonged to this surgery for over 40 years. Since Dr Dyananda retired it has gone to the dogs!

I am very sorry to read that you are unhappy with the wait to get through on the telephone. If you are able to provide your telephone number then we can check that there wasn't a problem with the telephone system itself. Sometimes the demand to get through via telephone will exceed the number of call handlers but we do have numerous people answering the telephones at any given time and we monitor the call volume, dropped calls and the wait to get through. With GP practices across the UK stating work has increased by over 20% with little additional resource to tackle it, we do move our staff around as best as possible to handle the extra telephone calls we receive. In the 7 years that Dr Dayananda has been retired the NHS gone through significant transformation, weathered continued chronic shortage of clinicians and combated a pandemic. The practice will always listen to patient concerns so please raise them with the practice manager so I can investigate, action and reply to you. Patients are well within their right to register at another GP practice if they feel that their needs are not being met, but we would rather tackle any concerns you have than you feel moving surgery is the only solution. I saw the Nurse Practitioner, Mrs Emma Cain, who was extremely friendly, informative and resolved my issue that day. Having been to see Emma on previous appointments, I knew that I would receive great care. She is very knowledgable and chats you through required treatment or next steps. I would reccomend seeing Emma at the first instance, where appropriate. It was also quick to get an appointment - I phoned on Monday and was offered an appointment on Thursday, though due to my prior commitments took an appointment for the Friday of the same week.

It is an extremely rare occasion when you can get through on the telephone to this surgery. I literally waited for a reply for 20 minutes and still no reply. There are never any patients in the waiting area when i have been there during the afternoon. The receptionists never answer the phones. This surgery should be struck off and shut down and all their doctors and staff be dismissed..they are useless!! the whole practice is a disgrace. It should be replaced by caring staff and doctors who show a duty of care.

We changed to this surgery after 63 years at a previous surgery because it closed. We were very nervous because we had a good relationship with everyone there. We always thought it was a very good surgery. However on moving we found a fabulous surgery! The receptionists are very helpful, the two doctors we have seen have been exceptional - kind, helpful and willing to explain every part of the treatment. We have had no problems in ordering prescriptions or making appointments. We love all the mod cons such as text reminders for appointments and checking in on screen for appointments in the surgery. They are also bringing in car registration recognition in the car park for patients to park more easily, rather than people who are parking taking up spaces they are not entitled to. Well done everyone.
